Player Welfare

  • Female Advocacy

Altona Football Club is serious about the welfare and safety of the women involved at our club. From our volunteers and supporters, across to netball players, female participation is strong and continuing to grow.

We encourage people to call out unacceptable behaviour and to be the standard.

  • Player Support

Each season we arrange a number of nights wholly focused on player welfare. Topics such as gender based violence, depression, hardship and social awareness are all put on the table in a safe and inclusive space.
Our coterie group the Viking Valhalla Club also host a mental health night that identifies and reinforces the available support networks to men, both internally and externally. Often lead by an active member of our armed forces, it is always a strong demonstration of how men can feel and exist in a the world that is full of expectations and demands.

  • Community Ties

AFC is an old club with long and established ties throughout it’s community. It’s these strong connections that foster the support and welfare at a communal level. When things get tough for a Viking, our community will always step in to help where they can.

Our coterie group the Viking Valhalla Club are front and foremost with assisting those in need.
